The short answer

  • Make-ready programs pay for the utility-side and customer-side wiring that a charger needs, which is often the largest share of a commercial project. Equipment rebates are usually smaller and set per port.
  • DC fast charging support is often set per kilowatt of capacity, so a 150 kW site and a 50 kW site can receive very different totals from the same program.
  • Demand charges, not energy prices, usually decide the operating economics of a commercial site. Incentives lower the upfront cost but do not change the tariff.
  • Fleet programs often combine vehicle rebates, depot charging and technical help. Funding is typically first come, first served.
